The Menin Gate

Since the 1920s at exactly 2000 hours, or 8:00 pm, every night the sound of the bugle can be heard in the Belgium town of Ypres, as the local fireman play The Last Post under The Menin Gate as a salute to the many soldiers who fell during the Great War of 1914 – 1918.

It is without doubt one of the most moving moments that you can witness as you make your way along The Western Front, and recently we had the great pleasure to take part in the ceremony during a battlefield tour of The Ypres Salient and The Somme Battlefields.
